# Olympic fishing plan — November 7–11, 2026

Checked October 16, 2026. Approximate map boxes are planning envelopes, not legal boundaries, public parcels or verified access pins. Recommendations are inferences from species and published seasons, not fishing reports.

## Lower Bogachiel & Calawah

Status: candidate. Coho / fall Chinook; hatchery steelhead secondary.

First river area to investigate from Forks. Pick a lawful public bank or ask a local guide to choose the reach after rain. An open season does not establish how good the bite will be.

Reach: Each river: mouth to its US 101 bridge. Above the bridges is a different fishery; do not target salmon there under these rules.

Sept 16–Dec 15 salmon: 12 inch minimum, 3/day, at most 2 adults and 1 wild adult; release sockeye. One single-point barbless hook; no fishing from a floating device equipped with an internal-combustion motor. November: release cutthroat and wild rainbow trout. Bait permitted in these lower reaches in November under the base rules.

## Lower Sol Duc

Status: candidate. Coho / fall Chinook.

Second salmon area to investigate. This is the lower river, separate from the Sol Duc Falls and forest-walk area. Public access and daily water clarity determine the actual stop.

Reach: Mouth to the concrete pump station at Sol Duc Hatchery only.

Sept 16–Dec 15 salmon: 12 inch minimum, 4/day, at most 3 adults and 1 wild adult; release sockeye. One single-point barbless hook; no fishing from a floating device equipped with an internal-combustion motor. November: release cutthroat and wild rainbow trout. Base rules allow bait here in November. Read the linked entry for salmon size definitions.

## Hoh: lower & middle state reaches

Status: candidate. Fall coho / Chinook.

A salmon option to assess on a Hoh or Ruby day. Choose this only when river level and visibility make bank fishing practical. Confirm public access rather than treating a road crossing as an access site.

Reach: Lower ONP boundary → Oxbow boat launch (CRC 350); Oxbow → Morgans Crossing boat launch (CRC 348). Excludes tribal land and the mouth park strip.

Nov 7–11 salmon: 12 inch minimum, 3/day, at most 2 adults and 1 Chinook. One single-point barbless hook; no fishing from a floating device equipped with an internal-combustion motor. Release cutthroat and wild rainbow trout. November bait allowed in these two reaches under base rules; rules change upstream of Morgans Crossing.

## Quillayute: state reach

Status: emergency. Coho / Chinook with reduced harvest.

Close to the Mora / La Push outings, but the emergency restriction takes priority over the printed season. Do not extend the state wild-fish allowance into the park or reservation.

Reach: ONP boundary upstream to Sol Duc / Bogachiel confluence.

Emergency effective Oct 6, 2026 until further notice: salmon minimum 12 inches, 2/day with at most 1 wild adult; release sockeye. No bait for any species. Retain the base one single-point barbless hook and motor restrictions. Recheck the notice before departure.

## Upper Hoh · national park

Status: park. Trout / steelhead, mostly release.

Best fit for adding a quiet fishing session to the Hoh photography morning. Choose safe bank access with a ranger; the shaded box does not identify a casting spot.

Reach: Park Hoh / South Fork Hoh only; mouth strip is separate.

Through Nov 15: artificial lure, single-point barbless hook; release all except 2 adipose-clipped hatchery steelhead. Fly-only from ¼ mile below Hoh Campground downstream to park boundary.

## Upper Bogachiel · national park

Status: park. Trout / steelhead, mostly release.

A forest-walk combination, with more walking and access uncertainty than the lower river. Check Undi Road and the trail before choosing it.

Reach: Bogachiel inside ONP; excludes state park and lower river.

Through Nov 15: same park lure, hook and release rules as Upper Hoh, without its fly-only reach.

## Kalaloch sandy coast

Status: park. Redtail surfperch.

The clearest shore-fishing alternative to salmon rivers. WDFW identifies redtail surfperch with sandy beaches and records a Kalaloch catch. Try only in a calm surf window; the reference window’s low tides fall outside daylight. Stay off logs and exposed rocks.

Reach: ONP ocean shore near Kalaloch; freshwater creek rules differ.

Surfperch: year-round, 12/day, no minimum. Washington saltwater license required for shore fishing at age 15+. Do not harvest park organisms for bait.

## Lake Crescent

Status: closed. Trout · closed for the reference window.

Keep this a photography and walking stop.

Reach: Lake Crescent, ONP.

Season ends Oct 31, 2026.

## Sol Duc park streams

Status: closed. Trout / salmon viewing · closed for the reference window.

Use the forest walks for photography. Fish presence at the cascades does not make this a fishing destination.

Reach: ONP Sol Duc and North Fork Sol Duc; not lower state river.

Season ends Oct 31, 2026.

## Lake Ozette

Status: closed. Lake fishing · closed for the reference window.

Leave the rod at the stay for the lake and boardwalk outing. The separate Ozette River has its own entry in the official chart.

Reach: Lake only; excludes river and ocean.

Lake season ends Oct 31, 2026.

## Queets park river

Status: closed. Salmon / steelhead · closed for the reference window.

No fishing detour here during this trip.

Reach: Queets within ONP; excludes separately regulated Salmon River.

Closed Oct 1–Nov 30, 2026.

## Verification and limitations

Compared NPS 2026 online chart, current WAC 220-312-020 and 2026–27 special river entries. Retrieved the October 5 WDFW Quillayute emergency notice directly; its operative date is October 6 until further notice (not the search index date). It says tributaries remain under permanent rules. Emergency listing checked October 16; recheck before every session. Some WDFW pages blocked the web reader; the exact Quillayute notice was successfully retrieved via HTTPS from WDFW. No November water level, catch rate, public bank access or future closure verified.

Park freshwater license waived; catch card still needed for salmon/steelhead. Appropriate state licenses apply outside park and for park ocean shore fishing. Verify tribal access separately. Flooding, surf and closed roads can rule out a legal fishery.
